Server licence pricing: every tier runs entirely inside your network

On your own servers, or on a dedicated cloud instance you control at Amazon EC2 or Microsoft Azure. The distinction that matters is control: the machine is yours, so the workbooks, the submitted data, and the calculation all stay inside your perimeter.

Nothing is missing from a server licence. It carries the full capability set, including Solver, Goal Seek, Power Query, DbConnect, and single sign-on Hub.

Compared with Private Cloud, the capability set is the same. The difference is who operates the infrastructure and where the data physically sits, which is usually a compliance question rather than a technical one.

No. Server licences are quoted and installed individually, so there is no self-serve or free option.

The free tier is on Hub, our multi-tenant hosted option. It is a reasonable way to evaluate the platform before committing, as long as your model does not need Solver, Goal Seek, Power Query, DbConnect, or single sign-on.

Yes. All 501 functions run on every tier, and the calculation engine is identical across every deployment model we sell.

The full coverage list shows 497 of the 512 functions Microsoft lists by category, plus four that Microsoft does not categorise, and names every exclusion with the reason for it. It is downloadable as a CSV with no form to fill in, which is the fastest way to check a model before scoping a licence.

Each workbook is one application, however many worksheets it contains. Applications are unlimited on every server tier, so this only matters for comparison with the hosted plans.

Uploading a newer version of a workbook to the same application does not count as a new application. It is a new version of an existing one.

Named users access applications with a username and password. If an application is set to restricted, everyone who opens it is prompted to log in, and each of those people counts as a named user. Named users are the main thing a server tier sizes.

Unrestricted applications can be opened by anyone with the URL. Those visitors are anonymous users, they do not count against your named user total, and they are unlimited on every tier.

Onboarding is us migrating your spreadsheet tool to a working web application on the platform, rather than you learning to build it. It is purchased alongside a licence rather than bundled into a server tier.

The package covers an assigned project manager, up to two online or phone meetings to capture your requirements, up to 10 hours of development, and the finished application deployed for review and testing. The hours must be used within five business days, and onboarding requires an active licence.

We will always try to deliver at least one working application. If yours needs more than the included 10 hours, we review the requirements and quote a fixed price for the whole project before starting.

Server upgrade and migration tasks are quoted separately from the licence, because the work depends on your environment, the version you are coming from, and how many applications are in flight.

Your account representative can scope it in advance so it is a known number rather than a surprise at renewal.

Three models:

• Hub, public cloud. We host your application and data on multi-tenant infrastructure. The most cost-efficient option, with a free tier. Monthly or annual billing. See pricing.
• Private Cloud. A dedicated, single-tenant instance on Microsoft Azure, managed by us, under your own domain. Monthly or annual billing. See pricing.
• Server licensing. For customers in highly regulated industries. You host the application and data on your own infrastructure and keep complete control. Billed annually. This page.

The workbook uploads and calculates, but VBA does not execute, so it runs as though macros were switched off. The question is only ever what the macros were doing.

Interface macros, meaning showing and hiding sections, navigation, validation, and button behaviour, are usually replaced by configuration in the App Designer rather than rewritten. Calculation macros do need converting: VBA user-defined functions convert to LAMBDA, and iterative routines map onto the built-in Simulation event. The full explanation is here.

Server licences are billed annually and handled by your account representative rather than self-service. To change billing details, or to cancel, contact them or email support@spreadsheetweb.com. Give 30 days notice before the renewal term.

Yes. Moving between server tiers is a licence change at renewal. Moving from a hosted plan to a server licence, usually because the data can no longer sit with a hosting provider, is a migration we handle with you, and it is quoted alongside the licence.
