What's New in SpreadsheetWEB? - March 2024

SpreadsheetWEB continues to evolve, bringing powerful and intuitive features to both developers and users alike. In our latest update for March 2024, we're excited to introduce a series of enhancements designed to simplify workflows, enhance user experience, and expand functionality for web applications.

So, what’s new in SpreadsheetWEB this month? Let’s start with the API Toolkit.

1. API Toolkit

The SpreadsheetWEB API Toolkit is designed to better serve web developers who need to integrate complex calculations into their applications. This toolkit acts as a sandbox where developers can easily create calculation requests with minimal effort.

Key Features:

Request Configuration: Developers can configure a variety of settings that auto-update the sample request, demonstrating the link between the developer's intentions and the calculation request body.

Intuitive User Interface: The interface consists of three main areas: the Calculation Request Panel, Settings Panel, and Calculation Response Panel, making it easier to construct API requests and interpret responses.

Flexibility: The toolkit allows for detailed specification of inputs/outputs, options for record retrieval/storage, and supports a range of events including printing, emailing, and exporting to Excel.

2. Names Editor

The Names Editor update within the SpreadsheetWEB Hub designer is a big step forward for users in terms of application updates. From this release, users no longer need to download, update and re-upload their Excel file to update their applications. Now it only takes a few minutes to add or replace data in table named ranges.

Enhancements Include:

Improved Data Management: The Names Editor allows for bulk updates and quick access to frequently used named ranges, significantly reducing the effort required for regular modifications.

Modal Window for Formatting: A modal window enables users to modify the format string and adjust value types, including stringent checks for Boolean values.

Multi-cell Update and Copy/Paste Functionality: These features simplify data entry and updates, making it easier to manage dynamic data.

Default Value, Value Type, and Format Type Settings: These settings ensure data consistency and clarity in presentation.

The updates to the Names Editor are designed to make the management of named ranges more efficient and user-friendly, reducing the need for manual, cell-by-cell modifications.

3. Excel Export Database Column Binding

A notable addition to SpreadsheetWEB's capabilities is the support for Excel export database column binding. This feature allows save actions to automatically store the results of an Excel export process. This applies to both UI-based and API-based applications, enhancing the flexibility and automation of data management tasks.

What This Means for Users:

Automated Data Storage: Automatically store the results of Excel export processes, streamlining the workflow and reducing manual data handling.

Smoother Integration: This feature is integrated into SpreadsheetWEB, making it easy for users to take advantage of automated data storage without complex configuration.

The March updates to SpreadsheetWEB introduced several key enhancements designed to improve user experience and efficiency in managing and updating data within web applications. These updates collectively aim to streamline the process of managing data and calculations within SpreadsheetWEB applications, making it more intuitive and efficient for both developers and end-users.
