In 2024, as we quickly move towards the end of February, our team has been working hard to improve your experience with SpreadsheetWeb Hub. We've made several updates and improvements this month.

Access SpreadsheetWeb Hub with your Google Account

One of the critical updates is making it easier for you to log in. Many people use Google for their email, so we've added the option to log in with your Google account. You can now get into SpreadsheetWeb Hub with just a click, using your Google credentials. This new feature is designed to make things more convenient for you, whether creating a new account or connecting an existing one, ensuring a smoother experience.

Web Service

We've taken a big step in making it easier to develop web service applications by introducing a new, streamlined design interface. This interface makes creating applications more straightforward by focusing only on the most essential features needed for web services. These include functions like printing, exporting to Excel, goal seeking, and solving problems while leaving out things that aren't necessary, like pages and stylesheets. This change means developers can focus more on the key functionalities used through web services, making the development process more efficient and less complicated.

Moreover, we've improved our API by enhancing the CalculateSingle API endpoint. This update makes it easier to use and access the full features of configured events, simplifying how core functions are executed. Additionally, we've added a feature called TransactionSequenceId, which lets developers specifically target historical versions of their transactions even if they are not published. Looking ahead, we're excited to introduce a comprehensive testing suite. This new tool will help developers more effectively prepare and test their calculation requests, ensuring smoother interactions with our API and helping achieve the desired results. This testing suite is designed to streamline the development process, making it simpler for developers to work with web service applications.

Innovations in Printing Processes

To improve printing processes, we've introduced two new features: support for static table printing and URL-based image stubs. Static table printing makes handling simple table formats in document templates easier, removing the need to produce multiple documents. URL-based image stubs increase flexibility by letting users choose images from specific URLs, offering more customization options for printing. These updates aim to enhance the printing experience, making it more efficient and customizable.

This demo application showcases the capability to dynamically embed images into PDF documents through URLs specified in an Excel file, leveraging Excel's lookup formulas. Users can construct a table with each row featuring a distinct image URL, enabling the application to fetch these URLs and incorporate the corresponding images directly into the PDF. This approach automates the customization of PDF documents with various images. For instance, a manufacturing company can use this functionality to dynamically generate product prospectuses by embedding images and details from a product database directly into PDFs. Similarly, educational institutions can create personalized student scorecards in PDF format, incorporating relevant images and academic information. This feature not only enhances the presentation and informativeness of the documents but also reduces the manual effort required in document preparation.

External Login

Finally, we've introduced support for forcing external logins on private servers, fostering transparency and security within dedicated customer environments. Additionally, users can now import user invitations for workspaces on remote servers, complete with support for external login providers, further bolstering collaboration and accessibility.

In summary, the new features introduced in February have been designed to simplify procedures, improve user-friendliness, and provide more options and freedom to users. These upgrades demonstrate our ongoing dedication to delivering practical solutions that cater to your changing requirements and preferences as we strive to innovate and enhance our range of productivity tools.
